The I Love Consent campaign is pleased to sponsor a talk by Kylie Angell, "One Voice Is Enough: How to Empower Yourself in the Fight Against Rape Culture."
Angell, 25, graduated from the University of Connecticut (UConn) in Storrs, Connecticut, on the Dean's List with a bachelor of science in nursing. During college, a good friend sexually assaulted her. As part of her healing process, Angell became an activist. She refused to remain silent about her experiences, and spoke out about her story at events such as Slutwalk UConn (an event geared at reducing victim blaming), the Vagina Monologues, and Take Back the Night.
Angell vis featured in the documentary It Happened Here by Lisa F. Jackson as well as the Pact Four Front documentary Slutwalk: A Day In Her Heels. She has spoken at Harvard Law, Vassar College, and the annual Women's Arts SWAN Day. She has also interviewed for the WHUS Radio Show "Full Frontal Feminism," spoken on the Katie Couric Show and shared her testimony on a panel at New Jersey City University.
