Choosing your Roommate
-
Step 1: Update your Roommate Profile
When on your My Housing portal, select “Personal Information” and then “Roommate Profile”. The ‘My Profile’ section is where you tell other people about yourself. This is important so other people can get to know who you are. Then make sure you fill out the contact information. We recommend you include contact information that you will check often this summer so other students can get in contact with you. Once you update your roommate profile, other students who are also living on campus will be able to read and review your roommate profile.
-
Step 2: Review Possible Roommates
When on the My Housing portal, students will select “Roommate and Room Selection” and then “Select Roommates.” On this page, students can search for potential roommates by name and by profile items (such as preferred sleep schedule).
-
Step 3: Reach Out to Possible Roommates
Contact possible roommates based on their profile and get to know them a little bit. Talk about important things like what type of environment you want in the room (quiet versus social), or cleaning habits (you clean your room daily, weekly or less often). Once you both feel comfortable, you can select each other as roommates.
-
Step 4: Match with Each Other
When you both are ready to select each other as roommates, search for your roommate under ‘Roommate and Room Selection’ and ‘Select Roommate’. Find your roommate’s profile and then select ‘Request Roommate’.
Your roommate will need to request you as well.
After you receive a request to be roommates, it will show up under ‘Pending Roommate Requests’. Go in and confirm the request. Both roommates must request each other and both roommates must confirm the request.
Now you are matched and you can select your room earlier than those who do not have roommates.
