Hall Council Position Descriptions
Elections are a two week process for Hall Councils and they are typically held in the first few weeks of the semester. Each Hall Council will elect candidates who will serve as representatives for their respective Halls in the following positions:
President: Conducts Hall Councils meetings, finalizes meeting agendas, serve as the contact person for RHA, and must attend General Board meetings. Presidents must also attend weekly meetings with the Executive Board President.
Vice President: Takes charge of all aspects of programming and assisting the President, if needed. Must attend weekly meetings with the Executive Board Vice President.
Treasurer: Keeps track of the financial records and allocated budget. Must attend weekly meetings with the Executive Board Treasurer.
Secretary: Records and organizes Hall Council documentation, prepares information needed for the Hall Council meetings, and takes minutes during the scheduled meetings. Secretaries must prepare agendas and minutes from their meetings to be turned in at the weekly Secretary meetings and prepare program attendance sheets to be handed in at General Board meetings the following Monday.
Hall Representative: Establishes key communications among RHA, Hall Council, and Residential Director. Representatives announce any relevant information given to them at General Board meetings of the Hall Council meetings, and vice versa. Another important duty of the Hall Representative is to assure that the hall’s mascot is well represented and to use it to maximum effectiveness in creating unity of the hall.
Floor Representatives and General Members (not required, but strongly encouraged): Represent their floor and help during surveys and getting student opinions/issues on the floor. General Members are any other students who are actively involved with the Hall Council, but do not serve on the Hall Council.
