Registered and Active Student Organizations at Buffalo State University

All registered and active student organizations must follow these steps to advertise in the halls. All registered active student organizations will first need to submit their poster or handout to Student Leadership and Engagement (SLE) via email (sle@buffalostate.edu).

In addition, the email to SLE with the poster must CC several groups:

Once you receive approval from SLE, then follow instructions below under ‘Distribution of Advertisements’

Departments of Buffalo State University

University Departments and Offices do not need to have prior approval, however the advertisement must follow the guidelines included in ‘Contents of Advertisement’.

Desk Handouts

Handouts may be no larger than 5.5” x 4.25” (quarter sheet of traditional 8.5”x11” paper)

Posters

Posters may be no larger than 11” x 17”.

Distribution of Advertisements

All advertisements must be brought to the Residence Life Office in Twin Rise Center 100. Student organizations and university departments not affiliated with the residence halls are not permitted to enter the residence halls and distribute advertisements themselves.

All advertisements will be stamped to indicate approval by the Residence Life Office. If an advertisement is found without a stamp, it will be removed.

These are the appropriate number of advertisements to bring for distribution in the Residence Halls:

  • Desk Handouts: 140
  • Posters: 74

Limits to Advertising

Each department or student organization is limited to one advertisement per event or initiative. A single event or initiative may use multiple methods (i.e. desk handouts and posters), but it cannot do two separate posters for a single event so there are 148 posters in the halls.
